The 20th Edition of the Quilt Festival will include an exhibition for the contest for “The Most Beautiful Quilt”, and will also feature guest collections from some of the best textile artists from all over the world. The theme for the Championships for this year is “Twenty.” The exhibition over 700 quilts, combined with a fair featuring more than 50 stalls where you can buy practically every kind of material related to quilting and patchworking. The fair will also include 38 different workshops given by a range of international teachers, and several live demonstrations of various activities.
The Open European Quilt Championships 2016 will take place from October 20th to October 23rd at the MECC in Maastricht. The opening hours are from 10:00 – 18:00 between Thursday and Saturday, and 10:00 – 16:00 on Sunday.
Next year the show will be open from October 19th up and including October 22nd.
Throughout the show there will be a total of 38 organised workshops. The workshop program is highly varied and includes the following: “Create Your Own Buttons”, “Diagonal Corner Seams”, “Indian Block & Embroidery”, “Playing With Colour” and “From Photo to Stitch”. Each workshop is strictly limited to a maximum of 20 participants, which allows us to provide an intimate and focused atmosphere. Buy your workshoptickets at the informationdesk. The fair will include over 50 stalls from all across Europe where you can find practically anything you need for quilting and patchwork and other textile crafts. During the Open European Quilt Championships, a contest is organized with approximately 150 participants, and the theme of the competition this year is “Twenty”, which is of course in connection with our 20th Anniversary this year. A jury will judge the participating quilts, and all visitors will receive a catalogue at the entrance of our event featuring all participating quilts, along with a short description. There are some great prizes on offer for the winning quilts, and the awards will be presented during the Championship Dinner on Thursday 20th October. The dinner is open to all visitors, and tickets can be bought through our online ticket sale system.
