At this webpage you will find an overview of all workshops that are taught during the Open European Quilt Championships 2015.
Character of the workshops at OEQC 2015:
The character of the workshops during the Open European Quilt Championships as you know it, will change in 2015. There will be several short classes instead of full-day programmes. During these short workshops you will make a small project or learn a specific technique. This makes it easier to combine participation in a workshop with your visit to the exhibition and the shops.

Learn the Korean quilt technique Pojagi – Marielle Huijsmans
There aren’t three layers of fabric, but there is transparency. Not only the blocks but the seams too play an important part in the design. The designs consist of geometric shapes. We start with a traditional Korean pattern made of five coloured stripes. We use dyed cotton organdy which is firm so you can fold it properly, dyes easily and remains transparant. You can apply this old technique to modern projects.

Punch quilting: Apply punching in quilts – Marian Verdonk
Punching is painting with fabric, without water, glue or thread being involved. Punch is characterized by its own weathered effect. You change the look of fabrics, it wrinkles into beautiful textures. Punch is almost indispensable when working on artquilts. However, it can be applied in more structured quilts too. In the workshop we will work with different techniques and materials. We make three small panels which can later be applied in a quilt. In the first panel we work with transparent and non-transparent materials so we can create layers. In the second panel we work with wool and leather and learn how to lead the punch process. In the third panel we let reliefs arise. At the end of the workshop you will learn how these panels can be used in a quilt. The material package you will receive contains fabrics, wool and a punch needle so you can continue to work at home. More information can be found at www.punchworkshops.nl
